Identify the fabric before adding liquid
Include the furniture label, material information and manufacturer instructions in your photos. Similar-looking velvet can have different cleaning restrictions. A general internet recipe cannot confirm whether a particular sofa permits water, solvents or overall extraction.
Pile and visible marks need separate expectations
Flattened pile, shading, old water rings and worn dye are different from removable surface soil. Cleaning does not guarantee that permanently crushed pile or worn color returns to its original appearance. Show these areas clearly during the quote rather than describing them all as stains.
Avoid broad DIY promises
Do not soak, scrub aggressively or use a rental extractor before checking the maker’s care guidance. A hidden-area check is useful but does not prove an unsuitable whole-sofa method is safe. If color transfer, a new ring or surface damage appears, stop and seek specific advice.
What LUX needs to assess the piece
Send a photo of the sofa and your ZIP code. Explain previous treatments and whether the cushions detach. We assess suitability and expected results before quoting; a delicate piece may need a specialist method outside our on-site service.
Choose a realistic appointment plan
If cleaning is suitable, agree on surfaces, treatment and drying before booking. Keep the fabric out of use until fully dry and follow the guidance for its pile. Our $135 minimum service order applies; an assessment is not a promise that every velvet item can be extracted or restored.
